![]() ![]() The sweet spot for me is 36mm, and I'd happily go down to 34 if I can find it. Small size happens to be important for me. Moreover, the timepiece is water-resistant up to 600 ft. The engine-turned bezel is the big draw, but if something has a lot of that Air-King feel with a plain polished bezel, I'd like to know about it. Priced at just 25 of the Rolex’s cost, this timepiece can easily suit your needs for daily wear. I do like how a blue dial works with a stainless steel case and bracelet. The sunburst dial I could take or leave, but blue is good. If it matters, the arabic numerals are a plus for me. I don't care one bit about the Rolex name or Rolex branding, so do I have any options in the sub-$500 price range? I'm not saying I'm ready to spend $3000 on a 1990s Rolex, but until today, it was never-gonna-happen territory, and now I'm starting to understand why the market supports these prices. The polished sections of the bezel, at the hour indices, started to feel graceful and practical rather than overwraught and obvious, and when you look at a macro shot of the engine-turned bezel, it really is impressive. Most of them don't stand out to me, but the 14010 with the engine-turned bezel and the arabic indices at 3, 6 and 9 started to grab me. I was eBay searching "34mm watch" (as one does), and saw enough Air-Kings in a row to give them a closer look. ![]() I've never really been drawn to Rolex, always felt like there are perfectly good alternatives, and homages where needed, until today. ![]()
